William John Tucker, age 30, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Gurnee, IL on June 4th, 2020. He was born October 5th, 1989 to Mike S. and Sue M. (Schaefer) Tucker in Waukegan, IL. On December 3rd, 2016, Will married the love of his life, Kjersten G. (Cox). William was an extremely loving fur dad to his dogs, Nestlé and Cosmo; guinea pigs, Epimetheus and Prometheus; rats, Gouda, Nacho, and Roger. After graduating from Warren Township High School in 2008, Will earned his bachelor’s from Eastern Illinois University and mechatronics certifications from College of Lake County. His jobs at Helzberg Diamonds and Lowes inspired in him a love for jewelry and the craftsmanship of furniture making. For the past 6 years, Will has worked as Lead Designer for CB Mills (Div. of Chicago Boiler Co.).
William was genuinely a selfless soul. He worked hard to take care of everyone else’s needs and desires before he even thought of his own. He hosted elaborate dinner parties, countless game nights and events, just because “it [made him] happy to make others happy,” as he would say. He loved to make everyone laugh constantly, whether it be silly dances, his arsonal of dad jokes, or simply sharing 60 memes to you at a time. Will had endless passions that would bring a literal gleam to his eyes. He loved cooking and would professionally plate delicious meals for his family every night. He was a skilled photographer and most recently an avid “birb” watcher. He took many beautiful photos of “birbs”, bugs and nature. He also enjoyed the simple pleasures of camping, fishing and gardening. A gun fanatic, Will impressed upon his friends and family the sport and safety of the practice. William was the Mr. Fix-it of any problem you had, whether it be a broken futon, a noisy car engine or just getting the internet to work so you could connect to the damn printer. He would drop everything to do it all. Apart from his bottomless love, passion, and hard work, William was exceptionally intelligent- a walking trivia digest. He was the backbone of the family, handling everything and learning how to do new things everyday. He truly was a one-of-a-kind guy and the world was brighter with him in it. He will be deeply missed always.
William is survived by his wife Kjersten; parents Mike and Sue Tucker; parents-in-law Calvin and Susan Cox; brother Michael Tucker; sisters-in-law Joy Cox, Susanne (Cox) Zilligen; brother-in-law Nate Zilligen; grandfather Wilbert H. Schaefer; step-grandmother Joanne D. Tucker, and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas K. Tucker, Nancy Tucker Shaw, Janina C. Schaefer; brother-in-law Calvin Cox II; uncles Brad L. Schaefer, and Larry K. Tucker.
