Vera Walker

Vera M. Walker of Waukegan died June 22, 2010. On June 22, 2010 at 9:17 pm a large and gentle heart stopped beating. Mom was enveloped in love by her children, grandchildren and great-grand children as she passed from this earth. The world is a better place because of you, mom.
She was born on November 6, 1925 in Waukegan and lived her entire life in Waukegan. She drove cab for her father, who owned Waukegan Yellow Cab, for over 34 years. She was an avid Bingo player.
She is survived by her loving children, Donald (Tynna) Schroff, Ronald (Jo) Schroff and Patricia Schroff; Brother Tom (Carol) Cameron; Grandma Cheech or Grambo, as she was affectionately called, is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her infant son Eugene in 1944, parents Vera and Harold Cameron, and sisters Muriel Kalinowski and Beverly Miller.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 26, 2010 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm at WARREN FUNERAL HOME, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee. Funeral services will take place Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 3:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Warren Cemetery.
The family would like to express special thanks to Nanjean Painter, Rev. Solomon Berhanu, and Shaun from Vitas Hospice for all the love and compassion they gave to mom in the last 18 months and the amazing guidance and support they have provided the family during this difficult time.
