Vance Ferry, born October 22, 1935 to Hiram Cole Ferry and Ione (Sponenburg) Ferry. Vance passed away at Vista East Medical Center on Thursday, May 17, 2017.
Survived by one son Lance Ferry of Florida; 2 daughters, Kim Ferry and Dawn Ferry both of California, all originally from Gurnee, IL. Vance is also survived by two grandchildren, Everett and Connor Serge of California; and many nieces and nephews. Vance was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen (Reyna) Ferry; one sister Larraine Fay Peklay; one brother Sherman Cole Ferry, who's death was the driving motivation for Vance to join the Army.
Vance was best known for his Classic Car Restorations, a Body Man that single handedly saved hundreds of Classic Cars in Illinois, restoring them to better than their glory days. Vance was also, "a total, hardcore flat-out drag racer." Vance is a Veteran of the Army. During that time he met Helen, who was also serving in the Army and later they married May 29, 1960.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 4-8PM at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL. Services will be on Saturday, June 3, 2017 beginning with visitation at 10AM until time of Service at 11AM in the Warren Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Pastor Chris Stephens of Gurnee Community Church. Interment will immediately follow the service in Warren Cemetery. All arrangements have been entrusted to Warren Funeral Home, Cemetery, & Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions in Vance's name can be directed to the Gurnee American Legion Post 771.
