Theressie (Pankey) Riley was born on August 14, 1933 and departed this life on Saturday, March 24, 2012. She was born in Reydel, AR to Vessie and Curtis Pankey who both preceded her in death. Survived by six children, Elbert (Patricia) Franklin of North Chicago, IL, Henrietta (Samuel) Graham of North Chicago, IL, Curtisstine (Ronald) Forte of Fort Smith, AR, Gloria (James) Cliff of Decatur, IL, Paula Riley of Lawrenceville, GA, and Gerald (Rosita) Riley of Zion, IL: fourteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Theressie was raised in Fort Smith, AR and attended Lincoln High School. She moved to Chicago, IL where she later graduated from High School. She attended Mount Sinai Baptist Church in North Chicago, IL where she was active in church, worked as a Sunday school teacher, and was a member of many missionary circles within the church. She relocated to Fort Smith, AR where she became a member of Saint James Missionary Baptist Church and was active in the Rebecca Davis Mission Circle. Although she had a quiet spirit, her smile and friendliness brought joy to those who knew her. Theressie was also fun loving and enjoyed life.
Survived by two living brothers: Nathan Pankey of Fort Smith, AR and Fred Pankey of Portland, OR: one living sister, Essie (Anthony) Sauls of Fort Smith, AR: one sister-in-law, Virginia Pankey: one aunt, Edna Mae Smith of Waukegan, IL and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers Julius Pankey, J.D. Pankey, Shedrick Pankey, two sons and one daughter.
Visitation, Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 10:00am-11:00am, Word of Life Ministries, 10215 W. Beach Road, Beach Park. Funeral services 11:00am at church following visitation with Apostle Ernest and Prophetess Barbara Taylor officiating. Entombment at Warren Cemetery, Gurnee.
