Suzan Henson

Suzan Rae Jean Henson passed away at Vista East Hospital in Waukegan, Illinois on August 13, 2022. Suzie was born on March 11, 1957 in Williston, North Dakota to Mackie (deceased) and Ruth Gangstad Henson. She began her education in first grade at Patrick Elementary on Patrick Air Force Base, Florida and attended twelve schools, graduating from George Washington High School on Guam.

After graduation she began her civil service career as cashier at the Great Lakes Commissary, 33 years later she retired from Military Support activity. Suzie traveled from coast to coast and to Guam with her family, her father being career military. She bowled in junior bowling and was a candy striper for the Red Cross while they were stationed on Guam. Once retired, Suzie spent her days reading, caring for her dog, Stella, and enjoying Facebook games.

She is survived by her mother, Ruth Gangstad Henson; sister, Theresa (Duane) Schaan; nieces & nephew, Rachael (Scott) Studsrud, Ryan (Sarah) Schaan, and Stacy (Tyson) Follman; great nieces and nephews Sawyer and Sean Studsrud, Leila, Eleanor, Henry, and Audrey Follman; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was proceeded in death by her father, Mackie Henson; uncles, Coy Henson, Billy Henson, Jimmy Henson, and Gerhard Gangstad; grandparents Frank and Mamie Henson, Gerhard Gangstad, Kenneth and Helen Bagaason.

Visitation is 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Road in Gurnee, Illinois. The funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Doctor Benjamin C. Squires of Bethel Lutheran Church  in Gurnee as officiant. The Graveside and Interment services will be at the Grenora Cemetery in Grenora, North Dakota on Friday, August 26, 2022.
