Stanley Gene Christman, 68, of Waukegan, passed away suddenly, Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 1, 1948 in Mahoney Valley, PA. On July 26, 1985 in Portsmouth, VA, Stanley married the love of his life, Darlene. Stanley was an Army Veteran who served during Vietnam, and earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Campaign Medal, Cross of Gallantry Medal, Bronze Star Medal, 2 Distinguished Flying Cross Medals, and the Purple Heart Medal of Honor. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1970, and enlisted in the Coast Guard where he began a long career retiring after 22 years of service as Chief Petty Officer. Stanley leaves to cherish his memory, loving wife of 31 years, Darlene B. (nee Lawrence) Christman of Waukegan; three children, Angelito "Lee" (Crystal) Tuazon of Beach Park, Chrisanta "Chrissy" (Dave) McCabe of Waukegan and Maria (Scott Wilson) Vinas of Waukegan; nineteen grandchildren; one great granddaughter; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lena (Renee) Manela of Virginia Beach, VA, Shirley (Mike) Garrett of Suffolk, VA, Richard Lawrence of Portsmouth, VA, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering will take place on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 2pm - 6pm at the American Legion Post #771, 749 Milwaukee Avenue, Gurnee, IL 60031. Coast Guard Military Honors will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at the American Legion Post #771 in Gurnee. The Military Honors will take place during the memorial gathering.
