Shirley Wininger, 85, of Waukegan passed away on May 25, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 1, 1935 in Petersburg Indiana, the daughter of George and Lorena (Foster) Fulcher. She married Leroy Wininger in 1953 on the 4th of July in Odon, Indiana and their love lasted for 57 years until the passing of her beloved Leroy on September 20, 2010.
Shirley retired from Bank of Waukegan where she worked as a teller for many years. She was an avid crafter, as well as a member of the Womens Auxiliary American Legion 281 serving as Post Chaplain. She also loved to travel and spent many hours scouring flea markets during her trips.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Debra Rene Cartwright; her sons Kent Leroy Wininger and Terry Steven Wininger; her grandchildren, Kenneth Roger (Mary) Iles Jr., Brian Steven Wininger, Evan Michael Cartwright, and Ashley Ann Range; her great-grandchildren, Roger Iles, Rosemary Iles, Angel Solis, Aurora Iles, Lillian Wininger, Maddie Wininger, Vlad Solis, and Bella Solis; her brother Frank (Sandy) Fulcher; and her sister Carolyn (Amos) Hensley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters Mary Falls, and Dorothy Powers.
A visitation will be held at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd. in Gurnee, IL on Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 2pm until 6pm. The funeral service on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at 11am, also at Warren Funeral Home.
Inurnment will be at Warren Cemetery.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in accordance with current State of Illinois Bridge Phase regulations, all guests who are not fully vaccinated will be required to wear a face mask while in the funeral home.
