Saramma Thomas was born on May 16, 1940, to Pattambalath Kuruvilla and Rachel Varughese in Ranni, Kerala, India. As the youngest of seven children, she was cherished by her siblings and family. She was married to Rev. Isaac Thomas, her husband of over 60 years.
Saramma worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, a role she loved until her retirement in 2014. She was well-respected by both her colleagues and those under her care. Her deep love for the Lord was evident in her actions and words. She had a genuine affection for people, always ready to help and offer kindness to everyone she met. Her faith and compassion touched many lives. She was known as a prayer warrior, consistently fasting and lifting up others to the Lord in prayer, which brought comfort and joy to those around her.
She was not only spiritually dedicated but also had a remarkable talent for cooking, often preparing meals for over 100 people for prayer meetings in her home. Her kitchen was always filled with inviting aromas, and she found joy in sharing her culinary creations with everyone. Additionally, she enjoyed creative pursuits like crocheting, knitting, and cross-stitching, which brought joy to those around her and showcased her remarkable talents.
Saramma’s profound love for her family shone through her nurturing and caring nature. She always put the needs of her husband, children, and especially her beloved grandchildren first, which has left a lasting legacy on their upbringing and spiritual foundation.
Saramma passed away peacefully at home on September 6, 2024, surrounded by her loving husband and family. She is survived by her husband, Rev. Isaac Thomas, her three children - Betty Varughese (Eapen), Susan Koshy (Reji) and Sunny Thomas (Alice); seven grandchildren – Jerrin Varughese (Liby), Jeffrey Varughese (Meagan), Christopher Koshy (McKenna), Elisabeth Koshy, Caleb Thomas, Rebekah Thomas and Jacob Thomas; eight great-grandchildren – Selah, Levi, Landon, Cameron, Luke, Evelyn, Elijah and Maeve. She is also survived by her siblings, Aleyamma Kurien, Rev. P.V. Kuruvilla and P.V. Simon. She was preceded in death by siblings: Annamma Abraham, Mariamma Skariah and P. V. Samuel.
We are deeply saddened by her departure but find comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering. Our hearts are heavy with grief, yet we cherish the memories and love she brought into our lives. We take solace in knowing she is now in the eternal embrace of her Lord and Savior, Jesus.
