Ruth Louise Gutman, 85, of Waukegan passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. She was born on March 12, 1925 in Picher, Oklahoma to the late James and Ella (Chapin) Ruark.
She is survived by her loving family, husband of 60 years, Kenneth Gutman; two sons, Gregory (Vicki) Gutman, David (Susan) Gutman and two grandchildren, Sarah Gutman and Andrew Gutman.
Louise graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1947 with a Bachelor's Degree in Bacteriology and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She began her career in 1949 at Abbott Labs in North Chicago and later became a real estate broker from 1975 to 2006. Louise became a member of AAUW in 1964 and was a member of The League of Women Voters, and she served on the Board of Education for the Waukegan Public Schools from 1965 to 1975. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Gurnee and the All Faiths Unitarian Congregation in Fort Myers, FL. Louise was a lifetime member of The Art Institute of Chicago and loved Ravinia, the Chicago Symphony and traveling the world.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 1:30pm-3:00pm at WARREN FUNERAL HOME, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 3:00pm at the funeral home with Rev. Joseph Wilcox officiating. Interment will be private.
