Ruby Pearl Lewis, 71, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on February 15, 1942 in Forrest City, Arkansas to the late Gillie and Bulah Mae (Smith) Long.
She leave to cherish her loving memory, husband of 55 years, William E. Lewis; one son, Robert (Antonette Lear) Lewis, one brother, LeRoy (Bernice) Long; two sisters, Lizzie Harmon and Bessie (Aaron) Cain, six grandchildren, Sheron (Gabriel, Sr.) Lewis-Morton, Crystal (Jermel) Lewis-Smith, Christopher (Whittni) Lewis, Lauren Lambright, Austin Coddington and Matt Coddigton; 15 great-grandchildren, Je-Risha, Ghaniya, Gabrianna, Gabriel, Jr., Ghaliya, Zaire, Marquise, Jaliece, Gabriel, Christopher, Jr., Aileaiah, Chrishaun, Chyna, Ariell and Josiah; many nieces, nephews, God-children and very special friends, Bertha Myles-Warner, Roxanne Hall, Emma Holt and Elrean Lewis.
Ruby loved to travel. She worked at Abbott Labs for 35 years as a supervisor.
Funeral services are Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11am with one hour of visitation prior to services at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2500 W. 30th Street, Zion. The Rev. Robert E. Williams will officiate. Entombment will follow at Warren Cemetery, Chapel of Peace Mausoleum, Gurnee.
