Richard Minwegen

Richard E. Minwegen (Rick), of Gurnee, 49, went to be in the arms of the Lord on Friday, December 9. He is the loving and dedicated father of Christopher and Miles. He is predeceased by his parents Peter and Ann Minwegen and sister Marianne and is survived by his sisters Jacqueline (John) Hopkins and Patricia (Mark) Aijian, and brothers Peter,Jr (Bobbie Stiles) Minwegen, Thomas (Martha) Minwegen, Andrew (Debbie) Minwegen and many nieces and nephews. Rick graduated from Loyola Academy in Wilmette, IL in 1980 and a graduate of the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana's School of Business Administration and Commerce in 1984. Rick worked for CUNA Mutual as a Certified Financial Planner, and was a Professional Scuba Diving Instructor with 7 Specialty Certifications. Rick was an avid outdoorsman and adventurous spirit. His greatest pleasures and motivation were his boys. He loved watching and supporting his children through their spiritual development, studies and play. His boys enjoy playing football, basketball, soccer and track. Rick was an inspiration to his boys, family and friends throughout his courageous and long battle with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS - Lou Gehrig's disease). Rick is a true testimony, redefining the meaning of courage, strength and perseverance for the purpose of guiding his boys through their early formative years.
Memorial visitation for Rick will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday, December 11 at the Warren Funeral Home, Gurnee, IL. A 8:30 am visitation will take place at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 15000 Wadsworth Rd, Wadsworth, IL. prior to the funeral Mass which will begin at 9:30 am, Monday, December 12, A graveside Interment will follow the mass at All Saints Catholic Cemetery, 700 N. River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60016, 847-298-0450.

Rick will be dearly missed by his boys, family, friends, clients and business associates.
