Mother Mitchell

Mother Luella Mitchell, 95, of Waukegan, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Highland Park Hospital in Highland Park, IL. Born to her parents, Andrew, Sr. and Estella (Irvin) Johnson on November 10, 1921 in Memphis, TN at 950 Ford Place. She was converted and baptized October of 1930 at the age of 9 years in the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Memphis, TN by Pastor Rev. Samuel A. Owens. In 1938, she moved to Gary, IN and united with the St. John Baptist Church in Memphis, TN with Pastor Rev. Leon Davis. Mother Luella later move to Waukegan, IL in 1952 and united with Shiloh Baptist Church with Pastor Rev. J. N. Lightfoot. In 1957, she graduated from Cook County School of Nursing in Chicago, IL. Mother Luella leaves to cherish her loving memory; 5 children, Cetron D. Ammons, Elvid H. Ammons, Jackita L. Harrison, Kay M. (Jeffery Doyle) Washington and Elaine E. Knobloch; 13 grandchildren, Alyse Ammons, Gina (H.B.) Hunt, Janien Harrison, Ian (Sonya) McElroy, Donte McElroy, Vau (Shevetta) Washington, Luella Knobloch, James Knobloch, Taariq Muhammad, Tajadin Muhammad, Tia Muhammad, Isaiah Muhammad, and Elijah Muhammad; 20 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; 1 sister-in-law, Lolita Johnson, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 son, Jihad T. Muhammad; siblings, Charles (Elizabeth) Johnson, James (Vera) Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Jr., William Johnson, Sr., Ethel Jackson and Tom Ella Johnson. Services are private. Entombment at Warren Cemetery & Mausoleum, Gurnee, IL.
