Melecio Tadeo Bernales, Jr., 77, of Waukegan passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. He was born February 28, 1939 in the Philippines. On June 12, 1966 in the Philippines, Melecio married Evelyn Verdeflor. He was a United States Navy Veteran retiring after 22 years of service. Melecio helped blackade Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Evelyn Bernales; sons, Melvin (Susan) Bernales and Jeffrey (Dezerine) Bernales; grandchildren, Shane Bernales, Evan Bernales and Caden Bernales; brother, Wilfredo (Julie) Bernales; sisters, Letty (Sam) Manalo, Lilia (Ernesto) Palines and Lerma (Noe) Primavera; brother-in-law, Arthur Bustillos; sisters-in-law, Linda Verdeflor, Rowena (Danny) Bustillos, Mila (Cezar) Barron and Zenaida (Angel) Pedroche, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melecio, Sr. and Justina (Tadeo) Bernales; sister-in-law, Cynthia Bustillos; brothers-in-law, Virgilio Verdeflor and Lauro Verdeflor. Services are private.
