Marlene Urbanik, 89, of Lindenhurst, IL, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at her home surrounded by loving her family.
She was born on October 8, 1932, in Waukegan, IL to Edwin and Emma Rondeau (née Terlap). On May 28, 1955, Marlene married the love of her life, Anthony Urbanik and they spent the next 66 years together.
Marlene was a very artistic person throughout her life, enjoying painting windows during the Christmas holidays, working in her ceramics studio, and collecting stained glass sun-catchers. She loved to travel with her husband Anthony and would always open her home and host anyone who stopped by, often “adopting” friends and making them feel like they were part of her family. She was famous among friends, neighbors, and family for her Monkey and Potica breads, and being a fierce card player.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Anthony Urbanik; daughter Linda (William) Snyder; sons, James (Mary Machak) Urbanik and Anthony Urbanik; foster daughter, Victoria Tercero Miscichowski; grandchildren, Talia (Jason) Finch, Edward Snyder, Joseph Urbanik, Kyle Urbanik, and Curtis Urbanik; and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Tom Rondeau.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 10 a.m. at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 40000 North U.S. Highway 45, Old Mill Creek, IL 60046, with the funeral mass following at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will be at Warren Cemetery and Mausoleum, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee, IL 60031, following the church service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Marlene’s honor to Catholic Relief Services to help Ukrainian Families.
