Marion Patterson

Marion Ezell Patterson began her early journey on April 8, 1935. The fifth child to the union of Nathaniel and Homer Ezell in Plateau, Alabama. She went home to be with her heavenly father on October 12, 2016 with her family by her side.

She graduated from Mobile County Training School in 1955. She later moved to Chicago, Illinois for a better job opportunity. Marion worked 2 years at the post office and 37 years, 10 months and 24 days at the V. A. Medical Center formerly known as Downey.

Marion would say "The bakery is open, how many do you want?" She enjoyed baking pound cakes for family and friends.

She leaves to cherish in her memory: a loving and devoted daughter, Angela Marie Patterson; 2 granddaughters, Ashley C. M. Henry and Asia Monae Harris; 1 great grandson, Adrian Nasir Henry; 2 sisters, Christine Bryant and Ruth Bryant both of Chicago, Illinois; 2 nephews, Craig Harris and Eric (Essie) Bryant of Chicago, Illinois; 3 nieces, Valencia Harris, Terri (Kenneth) Jackson of Chicago, Illinois and Natalie Bryant Lockhart of Fayetteville, North Carolina; a host of great nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Marion leaves special friends of more than 47 years, Odessa T. Morton, Ella Akins, Jean and Joe Spaulding, Yvonne Wallace, and a special thank you to Carol Ryles.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel, Sr. and Homer Thomas Ezell; brothers, James and Nathaniel Ezell, Jr. and sister, Dothia Lee Harris.
