Marion Caroline Holst (nee Scholler), a Gurnee resident for over 60 years, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Heathers Senior home in Ringwood, IL.
Marion was born June 21, 1932 in Kenosha, WI. She was a 1950 graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School in Kenosha. On April 14, 1956, Marion married the love of her life, James W. Holst. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wadsworth, IL.
For over 50 years Marion enjoyed traveling, golfing, and cooking for her family. She had a true gift of hospitality, always welcoming family, friends, and neighbors into her home with a smile and some homemade food. She spent many years fundraising for the American Cancer Society. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and recent great grandmother, and enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren's school and sports activities.
Marion is survived by her children, Brock (Julie) Holst, Jane (Jim) Johann, Mark (Deb) Holst and Tim (Krista) Holst; grandchildren, Becca (Nick), Trey, Alyssa (Adam), Codi, Kyle (Matthew), Lindsay (Brenden), Garret (Kayla), Elaina, Kaitlin, and Leah.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, Adolph and Emma (Kraus) Scholler; brothers, Donald and Robert Scholler and sisters Ruth Scholler, Dorothy Woroch, Lucille Kloet, and Elaine Skora.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee, IL from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service beginning at 12:00 p.m.
Inurnment will follow immediately at Warren Cemetery & Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund (www.curealzfund.org) or Transitions Hospice, 1551 Bond St. Suite 143 Naperville, IL. 60563.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in accordance with current State of Illinois mandates, all guests will be required to wear a face mask while in the funeral home.
