Marilynn Gates-Huley

Marilynn Denise Gates-Huley transitioned into her eternal life March 8th, 2022.

She was born August 24th, 1958, in Stuttgart, Arkansas to the union of Richard Gates Jr. and Ollie M. Gates.

In her early years she was baptized in Arkansas and her family later relocated to Illinois where she went on to further her education. She was a trailblazer and had a true flare for fashion. Marilynn had a zany sense of humor and a knack for making people laugh. She was a second mother to all her siblings, took pride in protecting them and didn't mind putting anyone in their place.

She was employed for over 25 years with Abbott Laboratories. After retirement Marilynn enjoyed life by spending time with family and friends, helping people and writing poetry.

Marilynn leaves to cherish her fond memories, 4 beautiful daughters, Shonice V. Robinson (Emmanuel), Brandy N. Gates-Moore (Jerry Lee), Christina L. Williams (Timothy) and Porsha A. Wray (James); her 5 siblings, Jacqueline Gates, Michelle Y. Gates-Ellis (Michael), Alan W. Gates, Gregory L. Gates, and Rhonda S. Gates (Michael Bryant); 16 grandchildren and 26 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard Gates Jr. and Ollie M. Gates; her grandson Breon T. Gates; great-grandsons Brayden J. and Braylen D. Boyland; and nephew Terell W. Gates.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee, IL 60031. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., with burial immediately following in Warren Cemetery.
