Margaret E. Swenson, 76, of Gurnee, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at home surrounded by her family. She was born May 28, 1936 in Pittsburgh, PA to LeRoy Arthur and Margaret Catherine (nee Means) McConnell. On July 16, 1955 in Arlington, VA, Margaret married the love of her life, George Swenson, Sr.
She is survived by her loving family, husband of 57 years, George Sr.; seven children, George Jr. (MaryAnn) Swenson, Bruce Swenson, Mark (Judith) Swenson, Todd (Marty) Swenson, Jodi (Scott) Holland, Steve (Stephanie Armanetti) Swenson and Debra (Ray) Jones; two brothers, Robert McConnell of Charlotte, NC and Arthur McConnell of Macon, GA; one sister, Janet Walker of Middleboro, MA; one sister-in-law, Nancy Zitkus of Antioch; twelve grandchildren, Eric, Michael and Matthew Hellquist, Sonja, Lindsay and Mark Swenson, Andrew Swenson, Alessandro Swenson, George and TJ Swenson and Ryan and Corey Jones; six great-grandchildren, Ava Swenson, Tiffany Jones, Jordan Spires, Nicki Moses, Ryan Buchwald and Samantha Johnson; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George and Russell McConnell; three sisters-in-law, Jeanette, Marge and Jeanette McConnell and one brother-in-law, Richard Walker.
Margaret was a longtime member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 771 in Gurnee. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her family, and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
Funeral services are Friday, April 26, 2013 at11am at WARREN FUNERAL HOME, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee with visitation one hour prior to services from 10am-11am. Entombment will follow at Warren Cemetery, Chapel of Peace Mausoleum, Gurnee.
