Margaret Olive Sneesby, a long-time resident of Gurnee, IL, peacefully passed on December 3, 2016. Born December 24, 1915, to Frank and Gunda Berg, Waukegan, IL, she was just weeks short of her 101st birthday. Survivors include two daughters, Janice and Mary Margaret, three granddaughters and six great grandchildren as well as eight nieces and four nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Peter, as well as two sisters, Ethel Mercer and Lillian Brundridge, and a son-in-law, Rollin Mercer. Margaret was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waukegan for more than 80 years, including singing in the church choir for some four decades, teaching Sunday School and most recently helping write the church's history. She also spent decades volunteering her services with the Lake Country Extension Homemakers program, including serving on its state board and attending the conferences of its international arm, Associated Country Women of the World. In recognition of her services, she was inducted into to the Lake County Extension Service Hall of Fame in Home and Community. In addition, Margaret became a skilled Rosmaler in her retirement years and taught the Norwegian art of wood painting at the Warren Senior Center. Visitation will be December 12, 2016, at 10 A.M., St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Waukegan, IL; her service will follow at 11 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Waukegan, IL, or the University of Illinois' Lake County Extension Foundation, Grayslake, IL.
