Beloved husband, father, and grandfather Manuel D. Abear, 88, of Lake Villa, IL, passed Saturday, August 20, 2011. He was born on December 25, 1922 in Chicago to the late Catalino and Florence (Henning) Abear. Manuel married Anna Coreine French on July 20, 1943 in Chicago, IL.
Manuel was the beloved husband of 68 years to Anna "Corky" Abear; loving father to Sandra Abear of Fox Lake, Danuel (Marianne) Abear of Ft. Myers, FL, and Brandon (Donna) Abear of Antioch; sibling to Catherine Prader of Tulsa, OK, and Michael (Edith) Abear of Villa Park, IL; grandfather to Tina, Robert, Teresa, Brandon M., Samantha, Will, Sean, Daniel, and Lisa; great grandfather to Robin, Joseph, Ashley, Jon, Erik, Finn, Rennie, Simon, and great-great grandfather to Jaden.
Manuel served as a medic in the US Navy during WWII, including service in Normandy on the D-Day invasion and in the Pacific and Atlantic going to Japan. Manuel retired after thirty years of employment from International Harvester in Libertyville, IL.
A gathering will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2011 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at WARREN FUNERAL HOME, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee, IL. A memorial service will take place at 3:00 pm at the funeral home following the gathering. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Illinois Chapter.
