Lyle Shilts

Lyle Lloyd Shilts, 84, of Waukegan passed away at home on Thursday, September 2, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 5, 1926 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. On November 13, 1971 in Waukegan, Lyle married Sissy Miller.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sissy Shilts; five children, Mike (Polly) Shilts, Sherry Lynn, Debbie (John) Kinne, Eddie (Karen) Crane, Jr. and Lori (Jeff) Miller; brother, Leonard (Jan) Shilts; sisters, Patricia and Cecilia; sixteen grandchildren, Leah, Paul, Eddie III, Phillip, Marissa, Rachelle "Twinkle Toes," Eric, Danny, Kayla, Brandon, Russell, Matthew, Emily, Hannah "Snow Bunny," Hannah, Jacob; two great grandchildren, Abby Rose and Barron. He was preceded in death by his parents, Winifred and Florence (Flynn) Shilts, brothers, Barney, Babe, Pat and sister, Marcella.
Lyle was a United States Army Veteran. He was a Ranger for many years at the Bristol Shooting Range, an avid hunter, enjoyed bowling, loved animals, especially dogs, was a pool shark and loved his grandchildren dearly. He was a kind, caring, gentle man with a great sense of humor "first one today." He will be loved and missed by all. We would like to thank Lori, Polly, Eddie III, Sonny, Jeff, Judy Valareal, Tommy for his soups and Becky for her moral support; especially Jeff and Judy, you were our angels. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2010 from 3-5 pm at WARREN FUNERAL HOME, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 5:00 pm with Chaplain Deb from Star Hospice officiating. Interment will be at Warren Cemetery, Chapel of Peace Mausoleum, Gurnee at a later date.
