Lewis J. Corbett Sr., passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024. He was a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years Sandra Corbett nee Pishney; his loving children Lewis "Joey" Joseph (Erica) Corbett Jr., Christopher Ray (Aimee) Corbett, Katie Jeanne (Matthew) Mueller, Jeanne Elizabeth (Matthew) Olsen, Timothy Martin Corbett, Courtney Joy (Joshua) Marescalco; his cherished grandchildren Eric, Michael (Hapa), Aaron (Lexus), Mason (TJ), Michael, Aaron, Mason, Benjamin, Isaac, Julia, Grant, Aiden, Ashlyn, Anton, M.J., Mila, Finley, Harper, Declan, Beau, Dakota, Knox, Charli, Jack & Nick; his 5 great grandchildren, Mieko, Skylar, Rowan, Vinny and Carter; and his dear siblings Judy (the late Robert "Bob") Abersa, Fred (Joella) Corbett, and Donald "Donnie" (Edna) Corbett.
He was preceded in passing by his proud parents Martin and Elizabeth Corbett and his dear siblings Betty Corbett and Richard (Cathy) Corbett.
Lewis from a very young age wanted to be a pilot. He had a 25+ year career with CF Industries flying a private Learjet and spent the rest of his professional career as an simulator instructor/program manager for FlightSafety International.
Lewis was an avid fan of the Phantom of the Opera, making and flying control line planes, loved square dancing, and spending time with his kids.
Friends and family will meet for visitation on Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 4:30PM-6:30PM at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL 60031. Following the visitation there will be a funeral service. A private family burial will take place the following day.
In “Lew” of flowers, memorial donations in Lewis' name can be made to his grandson, Isaac Corbett, who has severe Autism. Lew wanted this for Isaac so it can be used for his care and to give him social and life skill opportunities he needs now and in the future. Checks can be made out directly to Isaac Corbett or electronic payments can be arranged. For information on where to send donations, please contact the funeral home.
