Jon Hamaker, 83, of Gurnee, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 25, 2022, in Libertyville, IL.
He was born on March 19, 1938, in Marion, Indiana to Noble Desmond and Caroline Hamaker (née Brown). On April 22, 1961, Jon married the love of his life, Rosemary Zaloudek in Chicago, and they spent the next 60 years together.
After attending night school for many years, Jon received his degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from IIT in 1974. His work resulted in him holding multiple patents, and eventually becoming a Director of Research and Development. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and he traveled all over the world supervising projects. Throughout his life Jon enjoyed fishing with his sons and his friend Keith, and supporting the Chicago Bears, Bulls, and Cubs.
Jon is survived by his wife, Rosemary; sons, Jeff (Karen) Hamaker and Eric Hamaker; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Hamaker; grandchildren, Colin (Emily) Hamaker, Jonaya Hamaker, Kyle (Hannah) Hamaker, Jacora Hamaker, and Nicholas Hamaker; great-grandson Carter Jon Hamaker; sister-in-law, Louise Zaloudek; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jon C. (Kathleen) Hamaker; brothers, Noble Hamaker Jr., and Robert Hamaker; and brother-in-law James (Louise) Zaloudek.
A memorial visitation will be on Thursday, March 3, 2022, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. with the funeral service immediately following, at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee, IL. Inurnment will be at a later date.
