John "Jack" Turnpaugh

October 22, 1948 — February 12, 2024

John “Jack” Turnpaugh, 75, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 12, 2024.

Jack was born October 22, 1948, to Virgil and June (nee Stahl) Turnpaugh. After serving his enlistment term in the United States Air Force, Jack attended University of Illinois at Chicago, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Theatre. After several years as an audio-visual production contractor, Jack took a position at McDonald’s Corporation Creative Services department, where he worked until his retirement.

Throughout his entire life and professional career, Jack made, kept, and genuinely treasured many friends. Outgoing, warm, and gentle, Jack could always be relied on for a good time. He was an avid golfer and bowler and known as an excellent dancer. He loved spending Sundays in Wadsworth with his cousins, listening to church music and catching up on family news. He enjoyed attending Cubs and Blackhawks games with his longtime friends, with whom he also looked forward to yearly vacations to Las Vegas. Jack was also an avid theatre patron, enjoying all genres.

Jack goes to join his parents and his sister Lynne (Tom Rudd) Turnpaugh. He is survived by his nephew John “Pat” Turnpaugh and myriad loving and beloved friends and relatives to cherish his memory. And he would want to tell everyone one more time, “it’s a giggle.”

Friends and family will meet for memorial visitation on Sunday, April 14, from 11PM-1PM with services to follow at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
