John Robert Stoesslein of Kenosha, WI passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2023. John was born in Evanston, IL on June 17th, 1931 to John and Alma Stoesslein. He married in 1955 to Rita N. Boehm and they spent 64 wonderful years together until her passing in 2019.
John grew up in Winnetka and was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving honorably in the Korean war. Rita and John spent most of their married life in Waukegan where John completed his apprenticeship and became a Certified Tool and Die Maker. In their retirement years, they moved to Sacramento, CA where they both enjoyed exploring and traveling the surrounding area. They returned from California to their final home in Kenosha, WI in 2007.
Gardening was his biggest love, but also enjoyed working on old cars and fixing antique radios, clocks and phonographs. He faced a number of serious medical issues in 2023, and always kept his sense of humor and gift of conversation throughout.
John is survived by his children Carol Saleski, Nancy Schlarbaum, and Janet (Michael) Tillman; eight grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his wife Rita, his parents John and Alma Stoesslein, and his brother George Stoesslein.
