John Nevill

John Junior Nevill, 88, of Gurnee passed away on Monday, May 16, 2011 at home with his family by his side. He was born on April 7, 1923 in Duquoin, Illinois to John S. and Cecil Rose (Stevenson) Nevill. On June 20, 1945 in Waukegan, John married Florence Edna Schroeder.
Survived by five loving children, Russell G. Nevill, John E. (Baolian) Nevill, Kathleen A. Nevill-Hatt, Paul D. (Sandy) Nevill, Phillip W. Nevill; one brother, Bob Nevill; one sister, Emma Boswell; twelve grandchildren, Alisa Nevill-Knuth, Jamie Casper, Jesse Nevill, John Ryan Nevill, Becca Winn, Donica Dravilas, Zorba Dravilas, Keith Nevill, Kyle Nevill, Josh Olson, Renae Olson, Gao Ying; thirteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents; beloved wife of 65 years, Florence Nevill and two sisters, Mildred Triefenbach, Ella Ogilvie.
John was a US Navy Veteran serving during WWII. He graduated from Lake Forest Management College and worked and retired in 1981 after more than 30 years of service at Johnson Motors as a Machine Purchasing Agent. He was a lifelong member of Gurnee Community Church where he served as an Elder, taught Sunday School, was involved with the Youth Group, Cub Scout Master and a Little League Baseball Coach in Gurnee for many years.
Visitation is Wednesday, May 18, 2011 from 4:30pm-7:00pm at WARREN FUNERAL HOME, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee. A memorial service will be Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 10:30am with one hour of visitation prior to services at Gurnee Community Church, 4555 Old Grand Avenue with Pastor Joseph M. Wilcox officiating. Interment will follow at Warren Cemetery, Chapel of Peace Mausoleum, Gurnee. A luncheon will be held at the church following the interment.
Memorial donations may be made to Gurnee Community Church in honor and memory of John.
