Jimmy Alexander, 68 of Waukegan, IL was called home to his Heavenly Father Jesus Christ at 8:15 am on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital in Lake Forest, IL. He was born on May 22, 1952 to Mattie Alexander and the late Linzie McFadden. Jimmy was raised in the home with his mother and stepfather, the late Ulysses Price Sr.
Jimmy attended High School in Earle, Arkansas. He played many sports. He ran track and played basketball. He gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Beulah MB Church in Earle, Arkansas. He rededicated his life in 1993 and became a deacon under the leadership of the late Pastor George and First Lady Lorraine Patterson. He truly cared for the members of his church.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Lula Smith, on July 5, 1972. They moved to Waukegan, IL and settled there. To this union 10 children were added. He worked at a US Steel Mill for many years. Jimmy worked on cars but his passion for remodeling homes led him to become an entrepreneur. He loved his wife and his family. He loved getting together for family barbecues. He was the king of the grill. He loved taking road trips. Jimmy was very outgoing, loving, friendly and a comedian who loved to make people laugh.
Jimmy had an unbreakable bond with his brother Robert McFadden and his Uncle Grover McKenzie. You can truly say they were like three peas in a pod. Jimmy loved traveling with his grandson Jordan Wright. Jimmy was truly loved by all. If you ever met him you would never forget him. Jimmy will truly be missed by many. God has gained an Angel.
Jimmy leaves to cherish his life his mother Mattie Price, his loving wife of 48 years, Lula Alexander, his children; Jimmy Alexander Jr., Tolise Alexander, Marilyn Alexander, Shannon (Michael) Westmoreland, Shalonder (Brian) Melton, Samuel (Angel) Alexander, Twalia Alexander, Tom (Nicole) Alexander, Marshel (Jay Quan) Alexander, Trishun Alexander, and Tavaris Alexander, his siblings; Robert McFadden, Rose Edward, Ruby (Willie) Edwards of Little Rock, AR, Leon (Georgianna) Price Sr.; Earle, AR, Roberta Knighten; Earle, AR, Nathaniel (Debra) Price Sr.; Houston,TX, Ulysses (Vernessa) Price Jr.; Houston, TX, Jealene (James) Wilson; Earle, AR, Carolyn Price; Madison,WI, Leonard (Patricia) Price; Indianapolis, IN, Steven (Rochelle) Price Sr.; Madison, WI, Christine (the late Anthony) Price-Hardin; Denton,TX, and Sylvia Mezzell; LaVista, NE. 44 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunties, cousins, sister and brother in-laws.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father Linzie McFadden, stepfather Ulysses Price and grandparents Queen Esther and Tom Alexander, siblings; Charles Price, James McFadden, Arthur Lewis Johnson, Ruby Miller, Beatrice Jackson, Emma Byles, Gertie Mae Small, Annie McFadden, Peter McFadden, Melvin McFadden and Oltha Lee McFadden.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020, from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at Warren Funeral Home and Cemetery located at 1475 N. Cemetery Rd. Gurnee, IL. Services will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 11:00 A.M.Warren Funeral Home. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, only 50 people at a time will be permitted in the building including for the funeral service itself. Masks and social distancing are required.
Entombment will be at Warren Cemetery.
