Jerry L. Shaide Sr. "Pops", of Zion IL, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on August 14, 2023 at the age of 86. Jerry was born December 13, 1936 to Walter and Genevie Shaide in Barron, Wisconsin. Jerry moved to Illinois after high school, where he worked at Anchor Coupling Libertyville, IL for many years where he met the love of his life, Judy Shaide (Jenkins). Together they raised 5 children.
Jerry worked as a machinist and retired from Ladish Tri-Clover Co. in 2000 at the age of 63. He loved going back up north to visit all his siblings when he had the chance. Jerry was a big sports fan. He loved baseball, football, basketball, bowling and golf. He was a huge Green Bay Packer Fan and Chicago White Sox fan. He loved the game. If a game wasn't on live tv he was watching a rerun of a game. He played the game of softball up until he was 67 years old. Jerry and Judy shared the love of bowling together. He was in many leagues throughout his years. Jerry bowled several 300 games. He loved staying active. Jerry was a loving and proud husband, father, and grandfather that would do anything for his family. Lets not forget his dogs.
Jerry is survived by 4 children: Jerry Jr. (Jennifer), Scott, Todd, Cathy; 6 siblings: Sylvia, Dean (Judy), Shirley (Florin), Roger (Roxie), Sandy (Jerry), Judy Ann (Al); 11 Grandchildren: Brittany (Joe), Jessica (Matt), Austin (Sam), Collin (Lexi), Tinley, Melissa, Tyler (Mariah), Chris (Hannah), David (April), James & Amanda; Great-grandchildren: Gwen, Vera, Joey, Liam, Scarlett, Colton, Owen, Matt, Tyler and a baby boy on the way (Donatello)
Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife Judy., his parents Walter and Genevie Shaide, his stepson Jimmy and his granddaughter Tiffany.
Services will be held at Warren Funeral Home in Gurnee, IL 9-12pm Burial will follow immediately after at Pine View Memorial Park in Beach Park.
