James J. Sabaj, 61, of Hoffman Estates, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Alden Popular Creek in Hoffman Estates. He was born on September 11, 1953 in Waukegan at St. Therese Hospital to Stanley S. and Virginia S. (nee Jackowski) Sabaj. On February 22, 1986 in Morton Grove, Jim married the love of his life, Laura M. Johnson. He is survived by his loving family, wife of 29 years, Laura M. Sabaj; two daughters, Nicole Sabaj of Gurnee and Emily (Anthonio) Sabaj-Vole of Kenosha; one brother, Thomas (Bonnie) Sabaj of Arizona; one brother-in-law, Robert Pleasnick of Elgin; three nieces, Shannon (Jimmy) Jenkins, Julie (Zack) Babcock and Carrie Pleasnick; best friend, Denny (Jaye) Willison. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Geraldine Pleasnick. Jim battled with a brain tumor and numerous health concerns for the past 13 years, and fought a courageous fight until the very end. He was an amazing husband and father and will always be remembered and forever missed. Jim was an avid Bears fan, loved listening to music, and was a dedicated postal worker in Des Plaines for 33 years. A memorial gathering will take place on Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 2-4pm at Bethel Lutheran Church, 5110 Grand Avenue, Gurnee. Memorial services will follow at 4pm at the church with Pastor Ben Squires officiating. Interment will be private. Memorial donations may be made to his family.
