James Pounds

James Pounds, 83, of Waukegan died Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the VA Hospital in North Chicago. He was born on March 19, 1927 in Augusta, Georgia to Carlton and Lillian (Harper) Pounds. On October 19, 1954 in Waukegan, James married Arthurdell Todd. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife of 55 years, Arthurdell Pounds; three children, George Pounds, Jeffrey Pounds and Jami Belinda Pounds; two brothers, Clyde (Nora) Cade and Bernard (Flora) Cade; two sisters, Louneal Bell and Vera Wallace; five grandchildren, Terence (Nafia) Hood, James Pounds, Jerrica Pounds and Grady Pounds; seven great-grandchildren; cousins, Bessie Brown and Boysie Wynn; special nieces, Carla Murray and Vickie Jones and nephews, David, Bruce and Allen Howard. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Keith Pounds and one brother, Lee Cade. James served in the United States Navy during WWII. He belonged to the WWII Black Veterans Association and was a Boy Scout Leader for 21 years. Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 23, 2010 at 11am at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee with Brother George Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Warren Cemetery, Gurnee.
