He was born on October 22, 1935 in Port Gibson, MS to Adam and Flora (Wells) Marshall. In June 1971 he married Annette Mitchell in Lake County Illinois. He was a member of the Christian Workers for a Brighter Day Church, Pastor O. S. Williams. James enjoyed, watching baseball, cooking, barbecuing, gardening and hunting. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family. James accepted Christ at an early age.
James is survived by his wife Annette Marshall, his children; Michael (Nakia) Matthews, Sam L. Louisville, Valerie O. Marshall, Marilynn J. (André) Russell, Doris E. Marshall, James Q. Marshall Jr, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren. Siblings; Minnie Pender of Atlanta, GA, Hazel Dixon of Berkeley CA, Emma Hampton of Zion, IL, Johnnie Polk of Crowley, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Flora Marshall, 5 brothers Adam Marshall Jr, Benjamin Marshall, Everett Marshall, Vernon Marshall, Thomas Marshall. 2 sisters Carrie Louisville, Archie Jean Prater.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:15 A.M. on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Warren Funeral Home located at 1475 N. Cemetery Rd. Gurnee, IL. Funeral services will be at 10:15 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Warren Cemetery.
