James Harmon

James Lee Harmon, 73, of Zion went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. He was born on November 12, 1937 in Round Pond, Arkansas. He was united in marriage on November 29, 1956 in Forrest City, Arkansas to Lizzie Lee Long.

James leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Lizzie Lee Harmon; three children, Rosemary (Clinton) Collins of Waukegan, James Joseph (Cynthia) Harmon of Waukegan, Judy Arlene Harmon of Milwaukee, WI; four brothers, Peter Harmon of Chicago, Joseph, Jr. (Patricia) Harmon, of Chicago, Oliver Harmon of Tennessee, Earl Harmon of Racine, WI; four grandchildren, Erika Latrece Collins, Craig Clinton, Sr. (Dianna) Collins, Jessica Elizabeth Harmon-Smith, Samantha Irene Harmon-Smith, six great-grandchildren, Contrell Collins, Kubria King, Kendrick King, Craig Collins, Jr., Jaelynn Palmore, Alijah Collins and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph, Sr. and Callie (Dickerson) Harmon, one brother, Arthur Lee Harmon, three sisters, Gladys Tubbs, Elizabeth Welch, Christine McFadden and great-grandson, Fredrick King.

James was an Army Veteran serving in the United States and Germany. He enjoyed gardening, volunteered coaching summer baseball programs for many years including the American Legion Post #865, in which he was also a member. James worked and retired after 16 years of service from both International Harvester and Unidyne Corporation where he worked as a mechanic supervisor and held many other jobs throughout the years.

Family and friends may meet on Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at WARREN FUNERAL HOME, 1475 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL. Entombment will follow at Warren Cemetery, Chapel of Peace Mausoleum, Gurnee.
