Grace Schantz

Grace Ann (Sacramento) Schantz, 94, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on December 9, 2020, in Waukegan, IL. She was born December 30, 1925 in Waukegan to Joseph and Dominica Sacramento. She met Frank Schantz at an Eagles Club dance and they married on May 15, 1954. They spent 66 wonderful years together. In her early years, Grace was a secretary at Blatchford Calf Meal Co. and later at Tangley Oaks. But her greatest accomplishment and what she enjoyed the most in life was being a loving mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed travel to visit family in Rensselaer, IN and Dallas, TX and numerous cruises with family and friends. She was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren who loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Frank; three children, Franklin Jr. (Melinda), Mark (Martha), JoAnn Cooksey (Jeffrey); six grandchildren, Brooke (Dan), Sarah (Eric), Elizabeth, Michael, Joseph and Grace-Erin; four great grandchildren; and brother, Anthony (Lois) Sacramento. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers Dominic and Joseph.

There will be a family service at St. Dismas Church on December 17, 2020. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Operation Smile. Donation links are listed below.

Entombment will be at Ascension Catholic Cemetery in Libertyville, IL.
