Gerald Sosnoski, 71, of Kingman, Arizona formerly of Wadsworth, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at home. He was born on May 16, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan. On September 5, 1964 in Wadsworth, Illinois, Gerald married Anna Lee Doyle.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Anna Lee Sosnoski; daughter, Katherine (Michael) deVries of Hudson, Wisconsin; sons, Matthew (Brenda) Sosnoski of Escondido, California and Mark (Melissa) Sosnoski of Wadsworth, Illinois; grandchildren, Rebekah deVries, Benjamin deVries, Daniel deVries, Jonathan deVries, Kayla Radtke and Mark Sosnoski, Jr.; sisters, Marie (George) Benson of Chesterfield, Missouri, Jean (Robert) Brodie of Livonia, Michigan, Kathleen (Steve) Jake of Brunswick, Ohio, Carol (Skip) Hyde of Ft. Myers, Florida and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Mary (Bolda) Sosnoski; brother, Michael Sosnoski and sister, Eleanor Hughes.
Gerald loved to golf, enjoyed history, belonged to the Men's Club in Valle Vista, FRA, and was a member of the American Legion in Gurnee. He retired from the United States Navy as SCPO after 24 years of service. Any man or woman who may be asked in this century what they did to make life worthwhile in their lifetime....can respond with a great deal of pride, "I served in the United States Navy."
Family and friends may meet on Sunday, April 17, 2011 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at WARREN FUNERAL HOME, 1475 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, April 18, 2011 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 15000 Wadsworth Road, Wadsworth, Illinois with Fr. Fred Pesek officiating. Entombment will follow at Warren Cemetery, Chapel of Peace Mausoleum, Gurnee.
