Francine Jensen, 78, of Gurnee, passed away on November 16, 2024 at The Terrace nursing home in Waukegan, IL.
Fran was born on November 27, 1945 in Toulon, IL, the daughter of the late Donald and Ruth Coakley. In 1960, her family relocated to Kenosha, WI where she graduated from Mary D Bradford High School in 1963. She went on to study music at UW Madison briefly.
On October 23, 1964 Fran married Richard Jensen. They had 2 children and lived the majority of their 60 years together in the house they built in Gurnee, IL. When she wasn’t a stay at home mom, she worked various office jobs over the years. However, her favorite job was babysitting her grandkids.
Fran’s hobbies included playing the French horn (played in the Zion chamber Orchestra for many years), singing in a gospel quartet with her husband (Sonshine Quartet), gardening, and sewing. She loved the Lord and served in the church for most of her adult life, particularly at Bonnie Brook Baptist Church. Fran especially loved spending time with her family.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents and her younger sister, Marty. She is survived by: her husband, Richard; her siblings, Ron (Anne) Coakley and Beth Blair; her children, Philip (Deborah) Jensen and Jaime (Pat) Makinen; also her grandchildren Drake, Martha, Kiersten, and Eric.
A private family service will be held to celebrate Fran’s life.
