Fannie Mae Massey, born to Robert Dye and Idessa Moss near Hernando, Mississippi, passed away at the age of 94 in Waukegan, IL.
Growing up, Fannie Mae did farm work and later moved to Memphis, Tennessee where she worked various jobs including the warehouse for Kroger Food Stores.
In the early 1960's, she moved to the Waukegan, IL area and found work at the VA Medical Center, North Chicago and Fort Sheridan in the food service department. She also worked part time for Nosco Printers. Fannie Mae enjoyed travelling and after she retired, visited casinos across the country. She made many friends including at the housing complex where she lived for 21 years, and was affectionately known as "Miss Fannie". August 28, 2017 she departed earthly life fulfilling her journey to go home and be with the LORD.
Fannie Mae was a faithful member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church of North Chicago for many years and later Mount Moriah Christian Center in Waukegan.
Fannie is survived by her sister, Annie Lewis Smith of Gary, Indiana; special niece, Louise Smith of Gary, Indiana; cousins in Waukegan; Apearl Moss and Family, Carolyn Jones, John and Yvonne McKinney, many, many relatives in the Memphis, TN. area.
Services will take place for Fannie on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Mt. Moriah Christian Center, 524 10th Street, Waukegan, IL 60085. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00AM. Services will begin at 11:00AM and presided over by Bishop Rev. Solomon Smith. Entombment will follow at Warren Cemetery following Services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Warren Funeral Home, Cemetery, & Mausoleum.
