Evelyn Zelent

Evelyn M. Zelent, 92, of Gurnee, passed away Dec. 28, 2016 at home; born Sept. 10, 1924 in Chicago. On Sept. 4, 1945 in San Diego, CA, Evelyn married the love of her life, Alfred J. Zelent. She is survived by her loving, devoted husband of 71 years, Alfred; children, Joan (James) Stevenson, Jill Dunbar, Dr. Randall (Cathy Ordemann) Zelent; son-in-law, Karl (Shirley) Raasch; sister, Carole Schacht; sisters-in-law, Alice Korecky, Phyllis (Ron) Reszel; 15 grandchildren, Melissa (Brett) Morely, Vanessa (Bill) Raasch, Major Eric (Jennie) Raasch, Ashley (Michael) McDowell, Alexis (Scott) Brackney, Aynsley Stevenson, Megan (Matthew) O'Brien, Brittany (Darin) Schulman, Caroline (Nick) Grunenwald, Anna Zelent, Alex (Pat) Alexander, Elise Ordemann, Peter (Carrie) Johnson, Adam (Amy) Johnson and Suzanne Johnson; 12 great grandchildren, Skyler Morely, Tayler Morely, Brynnlee Raasch, Teagan Raasch, Jackson McDowell, Colt McDowell, Gabriella Schulman, Ethan O'Brien, Miles, Madelyn, Abigale and Aleece Johnson; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville Russell and Lydia (Konow) Barrett; beloved daughter, Jerrie Raasch; son-in-law, Jon Dunbar; 3 brothers, Russell, Robert and Donald Barrett; brothers-in-law, Edward Zelent, Raymond Korecky; sister-in-law, Lois Zelent. Visitation is Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, 10am-12pm, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 25519 Rte. 134, Ingleside, IL. Funeral services are Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, 12pm at the church with Pastor Dennis Meyer officiating. Entombment will follow at Warren Cemetery & Mausoleum, Gurnee. Memorial donations may be made to the church.
