Evelyn Swanson

Evelyn Swanson (Ev) 96, passed away on April 23, 2022 in Brookdale Assisted Living, Vernon Hills, (Grayslake, Cary, Melrose Park), beloved wife of (late) Eugene (Gene) Swanson; dear mother of Susan (late Richard) Sander and James (Joan) Swanson; cherished grandmother of David (Juanita) Bishop; Kimberly Bishop; loving great grandmother of Jennifer Bishop; Jonathan Bishop and great great grandmother of Nadia Bishop.  After a family visit on Friday evening 4/22, she passed quietly in her sleep early Saturday 4/23 in her own bed.  She is remembered for her kind heart and generosity to family and friends.  She had a great love for animals; they are with her.  She is at peace with no more pain.

Evelyn was a retired teacher who taught in the Melrose Park elementary schools, Proviso East and Proviso West High Schools.  She enjoyed engaging in many outdoor sports, water skiing, snow skiing, snow mobiles, tennis, and golf.  She and her late husband Gene enjoyed traveling.  One of her favorite things to do was sit back and read novels.

Evelyn was cremated and will lie in the niche next to her husband Eugene (Gene) at Warren Cemetery.  A memorial visitation is scheduled for Monday, July 18, 2022 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., with a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Deacon Mike Penich presiding, at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N.
