Esther Leafblad

Esther M. Leafblad, 83, of Gurnee, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha. She was born on April 26, 1926 in Bayfield, WI to Arvid and Martha (nee Mickelson) Sandstrom. On November 2, 1946 in Mason, WI, Esther married Allan E. Leafblad. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Allan; four sons, Robert (Barbara) Leafblad of Kenosha, Terrance (Nancy) Leafblad of Brookfield, WI, Gary (Carol) Leafblad of Coon Rapids, MN and Mick (Cathy) Leafblad of Gurnee; daughter-in-law, Jeannie Leafblad; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; brother, Jack Sandstrom of North Carolina; sister, Evelyn Lamont of San Diego, CA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Rodney Leafblad and six brothers and sisters. Esther had the gift of hospitality. She cared for the children she cooked for and others always seemed to come first. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2009 from 1:30 pm until 3:30 pm at Immanuel Church, 2300 N. Dilleys Rd., Gurnee. A memorial service will take place on Monday, September 21, 2009 at 11:00 am at Immanuel Church with Pastor Donald Tremper officiating. Entombment is at Warren Cemetery, Chapel of Peace Mausoleum, Gurnee.
