Ellen Behnke

Ruth Behnke, 89, passed away at Rolling Hills Manor in Zion on Wednesday November 15, 2017.
She was born on May 7, 1928 in Waukegan to the late Isidor and Katherine (Schmidt) Leicht. She married Norman F. Behnke on August 16, 1947. He preceded her in death on October 4, 2000. Ruth worked as a telephone operator and Food Services at Waukegan High School.
Ellen is survived by her son Gerald (Lynn) Behnke, her daughter Gail (Dean) Edwards, Grandchildren Kris (Todd) Nickleski, Jerry Behnke Jr., Jennifer (Brian) Krista, Tara (Anthony) Hynes and Matthew (Elizabeth) Edwards, his brother Clarence, Sister-in-laws Sophie Behnke, Claire Leicht, Rose Leicht and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers John, William and Albin Leicht.
Services will be held on Friday, November 24 at 11:30 A.M. at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL 60031, with visitation from 11:00 until time of services. The Family is being assisted by Warren Funeral Home.
