Elizabeth Minnoch

February 6, 1943 — January 5, 2022

Park City, Illinois

Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Minnoch, 78, of Park City, IL, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.  She was surrounded by her loving family at Journeycare Hospice in Glenview, IL.

On February 6, 1943 in Glasgow, Scotland she was the first-born child to James and Agnes (Stevenson) Love.  She attended and graduated from local schools.  In 1975 Betty followed her husband, along with their two sons in tow, to the U.S. for better employment opportunities.  She worked hard and was proud to become a U.S. Citizen.

Betty was such a dedicated and hard-working mother that she worked two jobs to provide for her sons.  She was a factory worker and waitress for many years.  She retired from her jobs in 2008.

Betty’s favorite times were spent with her family.  She often visited campgrounds, Six Flags, zoos, and grandchildrens’ birthday parties, concerts and sporting events.  Another favorite activity for her was to meet up with friends at Gurnee Mills to walk and hang out.

Betty had a love for Scotland and would return there to visit family and her Homeland.  She decorated her home with items that reminded her of Scotland.  She had Scotty dogs, Scottish dolls, thistles (Scotland’s national flower), and many other Scottish relics.  Betty still had a hint of her Scottish accent right up until the end.

Betty’s hobbies also included doing cross-stitch needlework.  She especially loved making gifts for her newborn grandchildren.  She enjoyed playing Bunco and meeting up with the ladies for fun nights of play, food, and friendship.  She loved animals, especially cats.  Recently, she found that she loved to go and have mani/pedis.

Betty is survived by her sons, Stephen (Angela) Minnoch, and Dave (Tina) Minnoch; many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews overseas; and her siblings, Robert Love of Scotland, and Annette (Libby) Higgins of England.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her niece, Gillian.

Betty was a quiet, kind, and caring lady who loved family.  She accepted all who knew her with an open heart.  She will be immensely missed by her sons and daughters-in-law, extended family-both near and far, and her friends.
