Dolores Weinhandl

Dolores Mary Weinhandl, 88 of Gages Lake, Illinois passed away early Thursday morning April 6, 2017 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Illinois. She was born July 10, 1928 in Berwyn, Illinois and retired as a Deputy Sheriff with the DuPage County Sheriff's Department after more the ten years of service. After leaving DuPage County, she worked security at Great America in Gurnee retiring after five years of service. Dolores loved to work with stained glass and made all the stained glass in the new Wildwood Presbyterian Church.She loved to garden and do ceramics. She also founded Extra Care at the church which helps alzheimers patients as well as their caregivers as a daycare which she did for 20 plus years. She is survived by three sons; Robert of Marshfield, MO, Richard (Becky) of Knoxville, TN and Roger (Linda) Weinhandl of Gages Lake, IL, 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest 1978, one son Ralph in 2013 and one sister.
Friends may visit with the family from 2-3pm Sunday April 9, 2017 at Wildwood Presbyterian Church, 18630 West Old Gages Lake Rd., Grayslake. Memorial service will be 3pm at the church with interment private. Please make donations to either cancer research or Wildwood Presbyterian Food Pantry.
