Darlene Whitson

Darlene D. Whitson, age 90, of Lindenhurst, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2023.
She is survived by her three children: Peggy (Terry) Sramek, Gail (Jeff) Townley and Carynn (Ron) Kuehn;  five grandchildren: Kyle (Kelly) Townley, Kelsey Townley, Carly Wiltse, Chase Wiltse and Bryan Sramek;  and her brother, Jack Gunderson.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard David Whitson, her sisters Audrey and Carol, and her brother Richard (Rick).

Darlene was born May 17, 1932, to John and Dorothy Gunderson. She was a resident of Des Plaines, Illinois before retiring to Port Orange, Florida where she and Richard enjoyed many happy years.   Darlene loved to dance and entertain and had many wonderful friendships, especially with her three daughters.
She had a gift for conversation, boundless energy, a love for animals, and always warmly welcomed her guests into her home. (And made sure everyone had plenty to eat!) Darlene was a wonderful example of a beautiful, strong lady to all those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed.
