Cristina Antonio de la Cruz, 99, of Waukegan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 23rd, at 9:55 PM, at Vista East Medical Center.
She was born in the Philippines on July 24th, 1918, to the late Marcela (Dionisio) Antonio and the late Severino Antonio. Cristina wed Enrico de la Cruz in 1936. They were happily married and had five children together. Enrico preceded her in death on August 1st, 1996.
Cristina, most lovingly referred to as "Apo," was charming and delightful. She smiled and laughed often. She demonstrated great strength and lived a prosperous life dedicated to family and faith. She was a devout Catholic, often seen praying with her rosary in hand. She enjoyed playing the piano, traveling, and playing mahjong.
She is survived by her 5 children: Fe (Juan) Garbanzos, Henry de la Cruz, Teresa Villadiego, Christine (John) Wright, Vicente (Cherry Pie) de la Cruz, and perpetual children: Edna Carlos and Lawrence Jose; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Cristina was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and 7 siblings; Vivencio, Rufino, Francisco, Nemesio, Nene, Esperanza, and Mercy.
