Clarence O'Bryant, Sr., 84, of Beach Park, IL passed away Friday, January 1, 2010 Vista Medical Center East, Waukegan, after a lengthy illness. Mr. O'Bryant was born December 30, 1925 in Chicago, IL. His family moved to Waukegan while he was a child and he attended Waukegan grade schools, graduating from Waukegan High School. He then entered the United States Navy and served on Johnson Island in the South Pacific during World War II as a mechanic. He worked at Nash Motors of Kenosha, WI and then for many years at the Griess-Pfleger Tannery of Waukegan where he also served as union treasurer. He retired from Commonwealth Edison Company in 1990 after serving for twenty years. Mr. O'Bryant is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Betty O'Bryant; three sons, Clarence "Skip" O'Bryant, Jr., Phillip O'Bryant and Gregory O'Bryant all of Waukegan; sister, Inez Hall of Woodbridge, VA; aunt, Jeannette Williams of Chicago; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter, sister-in-law, Ellen Fowler; niece, Deborah (Andrew) McClendon all of North Chicago and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends also survive. Mr. O'Bryant was preceded in death by his mother, Soubrette (George) Dupuy, brother, Matthew O'Bryant, sister, Soubrette (Leroy) Johnson and grandson, Gregory O'Bryant, Jr. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2009 from 11 am until 11:30 am at WARREN FUNERAL HOME, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 am at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
