Retired U.S. Army Sergeant Major Charles Norman Dubre, age 84, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024. He is survived by his loving children Rita Dubre, Monica (Klaus) Michel, and Linda (Ray) Rutter; his cherished grandchildren Simone (Stefan) Polzin, Christine (Maik) Brunner, Megan Conner, Jennifer (Kamyar) Favakeh, Rachael Franck, and Kyle (Allison) Franck; his precious great-grandchildren Chayenne Brunner, Cidney Brunner, Chloe-Ann Brunner, Nico Polzin, Phil Polzin, Ava Favakeh, Ellie Favakeh, Cale Franck, Rodan Franck, and Ellery Franck; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and dear siblings.
Known to many as “Opa” he had a free spirit and a heart of gold. He was always full of jokes and living life to the fullest.
He is preceded in passing by his beloved wife of nearly 49 years Gerda Dubre; his daughters Irene and Helen Dubre; his brother James Dubre; his mother Oma Merchant.
Friends and family will meet for visitation on Monday, October 7, 2024 from 10:30AM-12:30PM at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL. The funeral service will begin at 12:30PM, followed by entombment at Warren Cemetery and Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Charles' name to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) would be greatly appreciated. He will be deeply missed by all who know and love him. We will always carry you in our memory and in our hearts.
