Betty Brandes

Betty Jane Brandes, age 88, of Gurnee, IL passed away at home on Saturday, March 31, 2012. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed.

Betty was born on February 28, 1924 in Watertown, WI. She was a resident of Lake County, IL since 1950. She was a long-time member of St. Anastasia Church in Waukegan, and in her later years, of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Gurnee.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Power Brandes, to whom she was married for fifty-four years. She is survived by ten children: Larry (Jody) Brandes of Elgin, IL; Kenneth (Jeanne) Brandes of Hendersonville, TN; Susan (Wayne) Robbins of Gurnee, IL; Robert Brandes of Kalamazoo, MI; Catherine (Robert) Schricker of Brainerd, MN; Edward (Yvette) Brandes of Gurnee, IL; Thomas (Sherry Roberson) Brandes of Antioch, IL; David (Janice) Brandes of Gurnee, IL; John Brandes of Racine, WI; and Mary (Peter Gold) Brandes of Libertyville, IL. She is also survived by twenty-six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 3 at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. (www.warrencemetery.com). Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 4 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 6401 Gages Lake Road, Gurnee, IL. A funeral mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL.
