Ann Daluga, née Marfia, 90, of Vernon Hills, IL passed away peacefully on January 8, 2015. Ann was the beloved mother of Barbara (Arthur) Muller of Gurnee, James (Nancy) Daluga of Barrington, and Janice (David) Brandes of Libertyville. Ann's greatest joy was being Nana to Kristie (Benny) Taylor of San Diego, James Muller of Kenosha, Joseph Muller of Gurnee, James (Dana) Daluga of Arlington Heights, Molly Daluga of Barrington, Mimi Daluga of Barrington, Paul (Ashley) Brandes of Kansas City, and Annie Brandes of Libertyville. Ann was blessed to be able to hold her first great grandchild, Cecelia Ann Daluga of Arlington Heights in October of this year - an amazing 90th birthday gift.
Ann was born on October 18, 1924 to Sam and Mary Marfia in Chicago, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Anthony Marfia, and her sisters Rose (Ross) Sorrentino and Mary Jo Burton. She is survived by her wonderful siblings, Therese Whitlock, Joe Marfia, Marie (Dave) Bonnes, Joanne (Don) Perini, and many nieces and nephews.
Ann had a winning smile and was always ready for a party. She was a treasured friend and second mom to many. Ann took great delight in the relationships she developed, caring for others in their time of need and making people laugh. She was really trying to hold out until the Cubs won the World Series but decided she'd have to work on that miracle from above.
Ann's deep faith in God sustained her through many joys and trials in her life. Her children take comfort in the fact that her prayer book was opened to John 14:27 which says, "I am leaving you with a gift - peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid". We look forward to the day we're all reunited in heaven and until then, we will continue to honor the memory of Ann Daluga, an amazing mother, nana, sister, aunt and friend.
