Alvin Jellings

Alvin "Al" LeRoy Jellings, 87, of Round Lake Beach, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2012 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Round Lake Beach. He was born on May 16, 1925 in North Chicago to John and Elizabeth (nee Krapf) Jellings. On January 6, 1949 at Christ Church in Waukegan, Al married Margaret Esther Derreberry.

He is survived by his four loving children, Beverly (David) Whitesell, Gloria (Michael, Sr.) Capps, Laura (Edward) Shields and Alan (Gale) Jellings; two sisters, Norma Collins and Arlene Bostian; eight grandchildren, Karen (Eric) Jern, Julie (Dan) Krueger, Michael, Jr. (Cathy) Capps, Brian Shields, Scott Shields, Matthew Jellings, Christopher Jellings and Aimee Jellings; one great-granddaughter, Karina Jern. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 61 years, Margaret Jellings; two brothers, Charles Jellings, Kenneth Jellings, and one great-granddaughter, Isabella Jern.

Al was a WWII Navy Veteran. He worked and retired from Johnson Motors in Waukegan after 27 years of service. He was also the President of the Community Athletic Association for Baseball in Waukegan for many years.

Visitation is Monday, December 10, 2012 from 4-8pm at WARREN FUNERAL HOME, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee. Funeral services are Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 10am at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church (meet at the church), 31 Park Avenue, Grayslake, IL with Rev. Dr. Jane Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Libertyville, IL.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
