I was deeply saddened to learn of Dr. Kubala's passing this past week. I worked with 'Doc', as we all called him at Deublin, for 10 years. I enjoyed our countless talks over the years working on solutions to engineering challenges and just sharing stories about our busy lives. I often talked through different ideas I had on how to approach engineering challenges with him. I would ask him about his experiences and previous work to help me find a solution to the problem I would be working on. Numerous times he helped me out by providing suggestions or pointing me in the right direction. I learned much from him sharing his knowledge.
As my own family started to grow he often would ask how my boys were doing and enjoyed getting to see my family at the summer picnics. He shared his own stories of raising his family and remembering when his children were little. I knew he was dedicated to his family and enjoyed being a husband, father, and grandfather.
I am sorry for your loss and wish all of you peace. Doc was a great teacher and friend to me and will be missed by all.
